About

The practice was established in 2007 by Dominic Manning (B. Arch Nottingham, RIBA). Dominic has been based in the South-East region of the UK since qualifying as an architect in 1992. He has experience of commercial and residential projects in the East Midlands and London as well as Portugal and Luxembourg. He has a keen interest in environmental issues and for many years has sat on the committee of the Rother Environmental Group, is a trustee of Strandliners and is closely involved in the Rye Food and Wildlife Community Garden.

Our Service

Manning Wistow Architects specialises in the design of elegant, efficient and environmentally sustainable buildings for local clients in the private and public sector.

We can help you:

  • Design a new building from scratch
  • Alter or extend an existing structure
  • Renovate an historical or period property

With an open and responsible approach to projects, coupled with our experience in planning, administration and supervision, we can offer you a full range of architectural services.

Manning Wistow Architects provides a high standard architectural service for customers throughout East Sussex and Kent, focussing on residential, mixed use, commercial and community projects.

Our experience and knowledge of building projects allows for an accurate and honest assessment of feasibility, timescale and cost. We understand that it’s your specific wishes, the nature of the site, brief and budget that will shape the project.

Our advice and guidance will be offered at every step with a firm commitment to personally see your project through from start to finish.

Our personal architectural services can be tailored to meet the needs of your project. We can:

  • Develop the brief to reflect your needs and budget
  • Design innovative, efficient and sustainable solutions
  • Prepare the documents for planning as well as building regulation applications
  • Co-ordinate with other consultants where necessary to deliver the project
  • Manage the project’s construction phase

Environment

We have a strong interest in environmentally sustainable architecture and an in-depth knowledge of sustainability issues.

We realise our responsibility to the environment. The design, construction, running and maintenance of buildings all impact on the use of resources, carbon emissions and pollution at local and global levels. By researching the appropriate materials and technology for each project, we can produce buildings which combine good design with cost effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability.

We’re proud members of AECB (Association for Environment Conscious Building), who promote environmentally responsible building practices, as well as the Passivhaus Trust, which promotes Passivhaus as a highly effective way of providing high standards of occupant comfort and health without compromising on slashing energy use and carbon emissions from buildings in the UK.

Fees

Due to the individual nature of all architectural projects, we like to provide flexible fee structures. Where possible, we prefer to charge a fixed fee as opposed to a percentage of the final build cost. We believe this is the fairest approach as it removes any potential conflict of interest where it would be in our favour to see the cost of your project rise.

We’ll always discuss the options open to you as early as possible.

Reviews

It is not possible to describe fully just how delighted and relieved we were to find the planning approval in our mail box. We owe this success to Dominic and his company for his total commitment and sheer determination.

Mr N. & Mrs A. C., Peasmarsh

We really do appreciate the time and effort the project has taken and it does need to be said that we’d never have got to where we are now without Dominic’s fantastic support and help. Every time we are outside, either in the garden or on the terrace we notice people stopping and looking with close interest at what a fantastic building it is.

Mr P. & Mrs C. C., Rye

I would just like to thank you for the excellent work you have done for us on this. We have been very pleased with the way things have turned out. I will certainly recommend you to any clients who are looking for an architect.

Mr M. M., Appledore
